Ancestry- Provides access to a wide range of databases for genealogical and historical research. Includes: United States Census records; military records; court, land, and probate records; immigration records; vital and church records; directories; subscription lists and many other resources.  A commercial site to search for ancestor information with very limited free access. Over 51 million searchable Social Security records and the largest collection of searchable marriage records on the Internet. Leavenworth Public Library provides our patrons with FREE access to the Ancestry Library database.

Leavenworth Public Library subscribes to Ancestry Plus online. It is accessible on any of our public computers (with the exception of the ones designated for our library catalog only). Patrons may use these computers for up to one hour per day. These computers also provide access to Heritage Quest, EBSCO journal articles, World News Digest, Auto Repair Reference Center, and many other databases.

Residents of Kansas may also acquire a Kansas Library Card at our library that will provide free access at home to an online database: "Heritage Quest" which allows users to search for genealogical data. Contact your Reference Librarian by calling (913)682-5666, or just stop by the Reference Desk at the library to ask any questions that you may have regarding access.

Social Security Death Index   Lists birth and death dates of individuals and last known address. A good source for locating obituaries.
