What is the Leavenworth Library Foundation?

The Leavenworth Library Foundation is a not-for-profit 501 (C)(3) corporation which was established in 1987 to support the continued growth and improvement of the Leavenworth Public Library. The Foundation works with the Library Board to provide supplemental funding for the library by encouraging organizations and individuals to make tax-deductible contributions to support the library.

The mission of the Foundation is to provide long term, stable support for the resources and services necessary for the Leavenworth Public Library to meet the evolving educational, recreational, and information needs and interest of the community.

What will Foundation funds buy?

The Foundation provides funding for non-capital improvements to the library. Recently grants have allowed the Library to purchase the book drop at Dillon’s, furniture and a reader-printer for the Kansas Room, several technology upgrades, supplies to help with the organization of the Johnny and Annie Johnston photograph collection, and more.

Why should I help?

The Leavenworth Public Library is a place where people of all ages and backgrounds, and all economic level, can find the means to promote self-improvement, acquire new skills, improve economic status, and enjoy literary, artistic, musical, scientific, and cultural presentations. To perform these lofty and ambitious services, the Leavenworth Public Library needs financial support above and beyond traditional tax support.

How may a gift be made?

If you would like your gift to be put to work immediately, the Leavenworth Library Foundation accepts cash donations. The Foundation also invites individuals to consider giving long term support to the Library through wills and bequests. Undesignated gifts and bequests of funds or property, may be made to the Foundation directly or through your will. Gifts may consist of cash, stocks and bonds, real estate, and personal property.
